Should we bring a car seat on vacation?

by admin

We are going to Las Vegas with our almost 3 year old. Do we need to bring his car seat or are there shuttles to the hotels? Or can you rent car seats on arrival?  Thanks,  S. Kline

Thanks for this great question.  Let me first respond to your question about airport shuttles.  There are some hotels that provide shuttle service from the airport, but in this age of budget cuts, not all offer them. We’d suggest that you check with your hotel to see what they offer.  There are also private shuttle services as well as public shuttles & trolley’s to consider.  You can check them out at Going to Vegas

We understand that parent’s are faced with the challenge of bringing a car seat from home with them or not using one at all.  We’ve been there too.   We highly recommend that children use a car seat whenever they’re in a car, bus, shuttle! It’s just smart.   We’ve found a couple of products that will make bringing a car seat on vacation easier!

First is the The Sit n Stroll Car Seat/Stroller combines the necessity of a car seat with a stroller - and it can be used on the airplane if you’re interested in that. Having the stroller option might come in handy when your taking your 3-year old around Las Vegas.   It’s easy to convert from Stroller mode to Car Seat mode so getting it in/out of a taxi is easy.  It also comes with a sun-shade which is handy in the Las Vegas sun.

Second, is the RideSafer Travel Car Seat Vest.  This is a fabulous product to travel with because you can take it with you everywhere (it’ll fit into a large purse or diaper bag) and when you hop in a taxi or shuttle bus(seat belt equipped) you have the lightest, most portable car seat available.   It’s something I personally use with my kids when we travel and it’s great to have as an extra car seat for your children’s friends. I used it with an almost 3 year old 30 lb toddler and it worked great.  As a bonus,  the  RideSafer Travel Car Seat Vest also meets and/or exceeds all standards of the FMVSS 213 (Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard)

I hope these suggestions are helpful and thank you for asking Kids Travel Expert @ Traveling With Kids!
